Strong Hold Despite Long Weekend
While the film did see a drop on Day 2, this is normal for post-Diwali releases. What matters is that Thamma is still holding numbers on Day 7 followed by growth on day 8. This shows that the word of mouth is positive and the audience is enjoying the horror-comedy.
The film is the sixth entry in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe after Stree, Roohi, Bhediya, Munjyaand Stree 2. With the universe already having massive fan following, Thamma is benefiting from that popularity.
Most Expensive Film In The Universe
Thamma is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 145 crore, making it the most expensive film in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The high production values are visible on screen, especially in the VFX and action sequences. The film also features a special cameo by Varun Dhawan as Bhediya, which has become a major highlight.
Second Weekend Test Ahead
The real test for Thamma will be the second weekend. If the film can hold strong on Saturday and Sunday, it has a good chance of crossing Rs 150 crore in the second weekend itself. The positive buzz around the film and the lack of major competition are working in its favor.
Director Aditya Sarpotdar, who previously directed Munjya, has delivered another entertaining film that mixes horror, comedy and romance in equal measure. The performances by the entire cast, including Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal, are being praised by audiences.
