The first teaser for Netflix’s highly awaited Tamil anthology Navarasa was released on Friday. “Nine stories, nine emotions,” says the film’s tagline, which brings together top talents.
Navarasa, directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Jayendra Panchapakesan, features a huge cast of actors and directors in nine short stories based on the nine rasas (emotions) of anger, compassion, courage, disgust, fear, laughter, love, peace, and wonder.
This pro bono project is directed by renowned directors Bejoy Nambiar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, KV Anand, Ponram, Rathindran Prasad, and Halitha Shameem. The proceeds from Navarasa will be used to help those who have been affected by Covid-19. Intriguingly, this anthology also marks actor Arvind Swami’s directorial debut.
In this anthology film series, actors including Arvind Swami, Suriya, Siddharth, Vijay Sethupathi, Prakash Raj, Saravanan, Alagam Perumal, Revathy, Nithya Menen, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Aishwarya Rajessh, Poorna, Riythvika, Prasanna, Vikranth, Simha, Gautham Karthik, Ashok Selvan, Robo Shankar, Ramesh Thilak, Sananth, Vidhu and Sreeram play the pivotal roles.

The music for various segments has been composed by AR Rahman, D Imman, Ghibran, Arul Dev, Karthik, Ron Ethan Yohann, Govind Vasantha, and Justin Prabhakaran.
The cinematography is done by Santosh Sivan, Balasubramaniem, Manoj Paramahamsa, Abinandhan Ramanujam, Shreyaas Krishna, Harshvir Oberai, Sujith Sarang, V Babu, and Viraj Singh.
Netflix will begin streaming Navarasa on August 6.
