However, Hotstar has dismissed a complaint about a series that is now streaming on its site.

The Empire, a new series on Disney+ Hotstar, has sparked outrage on social media. This is because the streamer has failed to listen to any objections about the show, which critics believe honours Mughal Emperor Babur, who is blamed for the deaths of hundreds of Hindus.

This has spawned a trending Twitter hashtag, #UninstallHotstar, which has garnered over 34K tweets as of this writing.

However, Hotstar has dismissed a complaint about a series that is now streaming on its site. The film’s creators have been accused of praising Islamic conqueror Babur. The grievance officer (appointed under the Information Technology (Guidelines for intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021) is alleged to have dismissed the complaint, claiming that the series does not glorify Babur.

Shabana Azmi plays Aisan Daulat Begum, Kunal Kapoor plays Babur, Drashti Dhami plays Babur’s sister Khanzada Begum, Dino Morea plays Muhammad Shaybani, Rahul Dev plays Wazir Khan, and Aditya Seal plays Humayun in the show.
