The entire match schedule of the 2023 Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup was announced recently. As a cricket-obsessed nation, people were quick to express their excitement with the list of matches that were taking place in their city. The world cup will take place from October 5 to November 19. That means that films which will be released in this period of time are likely to be affected by the world cup matches.
Let’s start with the start, which is the first date of the match (October 5). On this day, England and New Zealand will be playing the inaugural match in Ahmedabad. Akshay Kumar‘s The Great Indian Rescue will be hitting the theatres on the same day. On 20th October, Tiger Shroff‘s Ganpath – Part 1 and Yaariyan 2 will be released. But on that day, a match between Australia vs Pakistan will take place in Bengaluru.
Here is a look at the clashes:
5 October 2023 – The Great Indian Rescue
20 October 2023 – Ganpath Part 1
20 October 2023 – Yaariyan 2
24 October 2023 – The Vaccine War
27 October 2023 – Yodha

Conclusion
Cricket and cinema are two of the biggest crowd-pullers in India. But cricket generates more traffic when it’s a world cup match. So these matches will definitely be going to put a dent in the film’s box-office collections that are released around that time. However, in the past, there have been clashes between cricket and cinema where both came out victorious.
In 2008, the first season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was started. Around that time, Emraan Hashmi’s Jannat was also released in the theatres. Despite the massive popularity of IPL, the film managed to become a commercial success. So at the end of the day, a lot will depend on the film’s content.
