Earlier this year, Steven Spielberg thanked Tom Cruise for saving Hollywood with his blockbuster hit Top Gun: Maverick. Now, Cruise is gearing up for his next film that will surely shake the box office. The action star is set to return as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One which is scheduled to release on July 12 in the United States.
Reports state that the action thriller spy film is expected to mint around $90 million within just the first five days of its theatrical release. This would make it a major commercial success of the year. The film had its world premiere at the Spanish Steps in Rome on 19 June where it met with critical acclaim. Currently, Cruise is in Europe to attend its London premiere.
The estimated $90 million includes an approximate three-day collection from the weekend of around $65 million. Last year, Top Gun: Maverick minted $1.496 billion at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing film of Cruise’s career so far. It also rejuvenated theatres across the globe that were shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
