After Irrfan Khan, Bollywood lost another shining star of Bollywood, Rishi Kapoor. Our hearts aches when we share this news to you. Coming from the family of stars, Rishi definitely proved it with his talent and amazing work that he wasn’t just a blessed kid but also a deserving and hard working actor.

Here are some of his best movies that we talk about today to remember him always through his movies.

Kapoor & Sons:

This film’s entire premise is around Rishi Kapoor who plays Amarjeet in the film. He’s a 90 year old who resides in Coonoor and his last wish is to have a family portrait with the tag ‘Kapoor & Sons – Since 1921’. The whole family has issues with each other and with life and hence this dream becomes a big deal for the family. As the film movies forward, so many shocking revelations come out but at the end Amarjeet’s wish comes true. Risha Kapoor as Amarjeet was fabulous in this flick.

Karz:

As the name suggest, Rishi Kapoor starrer Karz was referred as debt. In this film, this debt was of a lifetime. Rishi Kapoor, who was known for his outstanding performances was seen sporting the dual role of Ravi and twenty years later as Monty. The film shows twenty years of before and after. Monty, an orphan who was raised in the same vicinity as Ravi’s who was murdered starts getting visions from his past life which is nothing but that of Ravi’s. He then does a grand expose in the end by uncovering truths about Kaamini and her vile deeds. ‘Karz’, definitely has to be forever indebted to Rishi Kapoor for its success and glory.

Amar Akbar Anthony:

Amar Akbar Anthony starred Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna. The story is about three brothers who het separated in their childhood and were brought up in three different families of different religions, Hindu, Islam and Christian. While the screen space seems divided in the movie between Big B, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna, the fun and the emotions ride high with this one.

Do Dooni Chaar:

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh starrer Do Dooni Chaar revolved around a school teacher who stays with his family in South Delhi. He wishes to own a car someday rather than his old scooter. This movie is a perfect portray of a middle class family and family tantrums. Rishi Kapoor undoubtedly won our hearts with this film.

Prem Rog:


Prem Rog is a story about Dev and Manorama. The two neighborhood friends who gets separated in their childhood because Dev travels to Bombay to pursue his higher studies. As Dev returns home after a few years, he falls for Manorama, but Manorama, in turn, is married off to a rich man thus shattering Dev’s dreams. The twist in the tale comes when Dev learns about Manorama’s tragedy post her marriage and tries to bring cheer to her life again. This was one of the critically acclaimed movies that Rishi Kapoor was a part of.

Laila Majnu:


This film couldn’t be the same if it was Rishi Kapoor bagging the lead role in it. Rishi’s outstanding performance in the film gave it all the emotional and heartbroken touch to it as the movie demanded. Ranjeeta portrayed the role of Laila in the film. Rishi Kapoor gives the performance of his career

Bobby:


Bobby was a direction by Raj Kapoor. It was one of the top grossing films of all times after its release. Dimple Kapadia was the female lead opposite Rishi Kapoor in the film. For Rishi Kapoor, this was his first mainstream break as an actor after cameo roles in ‘Mera Naam Joker’ and ‘Shree 420’. Bobby’ is a pioneering film and became a trendsetter for many teenage romance dramas that were to follow. The major credit for this goes to none other than Rishi.

Yeh Waada Raha:

Yeh Vaada Raha is a drama film, starring Rishi Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, Tina Munim, Rakhee Gulzar and Shammi Kapoor. It is based on Danielle Steel’s novel and had once been adapted into the American film The Promise. Once agian, with rhis flick Rishi Kapoor proved that he isn’t just a kid from a star family but a deserving fit for the industry as well.

Saagar:

Saagar a drama-based film directed by Ramesh Sippy. The movie stars Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia along with Kamal Hassan. In the film, Raja (Kamal Haasan) secretly loves Mona (Dimple Kapadia) but she is in love with Ravi (Rishi Kapoor). However, Ravi’s grandmother disapproves of their relationship and asks Mona to forget him and marry someone else. Thus the story moves on and Rishi gives another outstanding performance.

Chandni:


Since childhood, whenever we talk to our parents about Rishi Kapoor and his films, Chandni always has to be in one of the top 10 movies of the star. Yash Chopra directorial Chandni was a blockbuster hit of its time. Even now, when we talk about love stories in Bollywood films, Chandni always will top out lists. Vinod Khanna is seen playing a supporting role in the film. And the film revolves around two amazing actors who have become two shining stars now, Sridevi and Rishi Kapoor.

Rishi Kapoor was definitely a star we will always remember and miss. May his soul rest in peace.
