Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) is set to be reimagined as a stage musical in the UK. British Railways is teaming up with Yash Raj Films (YRF) to mark 200 years of rail travel and 30 years of the iconic Bollywood romance. The adaptation titled Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical (CFIL) will bring the film’s magic to the theatre stage.
Since its release in 1995, DDLJ has won hearts worldwide. Many key scenes, including the famous King’s Cross station moment, were filmed in the UK. Now, the musical version will add a new chapter to the film’s legacy.
This DDLJ Musical To Premiere In May-June 2025
Directed by Aditya Chopra, the musical will premiere at the Manchester Opera House on May 29, 2025 and run until June 21, 2025. It follows Simran, a British-Indian woman caught between an arranged marriage and her love for Roger, a British man.
The show will feature 18 original English songs by Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, with lyrics by Nell Benjamin (Mean Girls, Legally Blonde).
To celebrate the milestone, British Railways will host special activations at Manchester and London railway stations. The collaboration between YRF and British Railways shows the power of cinema, travel, and love across cultures.
