It is almost certain that, Pathaan 2 is happening. A new report has confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan will be reprising his role as Pathaan in a sequel. The film is said to go on floors later this year. As per reports, Aditya Chopra has personally worked on the script with his team and is setting up Pathaan 2 as a foundation of bigger conflicts that could branch out into more spy films under the YRF banner.
There’s no such thing as too many spies. At least, that’s what filmmaker Aditya Chopra seems to believe. Bollywood is already abuzz with talk of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan 2, which is expected to roll early next year and will set the stage for Tiger vs Pathaan.
Shah Rukh Khan To Be Joined By Young Spy In Pathaan 2
Now, there is another twist to the tale—it turns out there will be a new spy alongside Shah Rukh in the upcoming sequel. Apparently, the makers are scouting for a 20-something hero who can join the YRF Spy Universe. While SRK will headline the big-budget actioner, this new spy will play his protégé as they take on baddies together. Something tells us that the extended cameo will be a coveted role. Only time will tell who lands the spot and rubs shoulders with King Khan.
Pathaan 2 Will Predate Tiger Vs Pathaan
“Pathaan 2 will predate Tiger vs Pathaan and will set up the clash of two cinematic legends on the big screen. Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan is definitely a character that has resonated with the audiences, and there is a constant on-ground demand from the audience to see more of SRK in the spy avatar. Soon after the release in January 2023, Adi and SRK had decided to spin Pathaan into a standalone franchise too within the Spy Universe and the former started ideating the sequel of this all-time blockbuster,” the source told.
“Pathaan 2 is being designed as the tentpole spy film of the universe that will set things up for bigger conflict in the times to come. It will set up the next phase of YRF Spy Universe’s timeline. In fact, P2 sets things up for the big battle between Tiger and Pathaan (Tiger vs Pathaan) in the future timeline,” the source added, revealing that SRK and Aditya are eyeing the end of the year to kickstart filming of Pathaan 2.
It seems that Tiger Vs Pathaan will be on hold for sometime as Tiger 3 didn’t perform on expected lines.
Meanwhile, an earlier report claimed that Salman and SRK are planning to start work on Tiger vs Pathaan this summer. YRF is yet to comment on these reports.
