Superstar Aamir Khan has been known for his meticulous nature and great intuition when it comes to the form of art that is film. But now, it’s a new emotional landscape as he navigates the rise of his son, Junaid Khan, in Hindi cinema. In a candid interview, Aamir spoke openly about dad duties, the idea of failure, and faith, claiming that Junaid’s success or failure means more to him than his own.
“I never thought I would care more about anyone else’s success or failure than my own,” Khan said. “But it does, concerning Junaid. That is the emotion of a parent.”
“He has the rare talent, beyond the skills.”
Although Junaid’s Netflix film Maharaj (2024) and his theatrical debut Loveyapa didn’t set the box office on fire, Aamir remains convinced that his son has true talent.
“When you compare Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak with Junaid’s first two films, Junaid’s work is better than mine!” Khan said. “He has a rare talent that a lot of great actors don’t have. Junaid becomes the character — that is deeper than skill.”
Aamir said Junaid is not even scared, is self-motivated and is independently fierce and has never once taken advantage of his father’s networks to get him a role.
“He is Sincere… Maybe Too Honest”
However, it wasn’t all roses. Aamir gave a little cheeky, if pointed, critique of Junaid’s conduct with the media, especially his level of honesty in interviews.
“He’s honest to the point of giving the wrong impression,” Aamir laughed. “When he said ‘I’m privileged,’ he was clearly not boasting. He was just stating the facts. But people misconstrued it. That’s the problem with speculation and directness.”
Ek Din With Sai Pallavi
Junaid’s next is a romance that includes South sensation Sai Pallavi, and it is called Ek Din. This is also Junaid’s first movie under Aamir Khan Productions (AKP).
While many people may think this is a case of a dad being a dad, Aamir put the record straight:
“I didn’t cast him, because he is my son. When I produce a film, my obligation with integrity to the story precedes everything including family. He earned the right.”
Box Office Worldwide Verdict
As we live in an era of star kids and nepotism, Junaid Khan’s story stands out for its willpower, honesty, and emotional vulnerability; not only from him but also from Aamir. Success has not yet met expectations, but the base is solid, and the talent is there; Ek Din may be the moment when the sun shines where it should be.
Aamir says it best:
“He’s a fighter and he will not give up.”
