Aamir Khan, a Bollywood actor, has expressed concern about films releasing on digital platforms, as theatres remain closed in several parts of the country, notably Maharashtra, which accounts for 30% of box office revenues.

Bellbottom, starring Akshay Kumar, is one of the films launching this month, and it will start off the theatres’ opening. Aamir Khan acknowledged that movie theatres can only open if the country’s health improves and more people get vaccinated.

At an event, Aamir Khan was quoted as saying, “Some films are releasing on OTT platforms, and as a film person, I am very concerned. I hope in the near future things will improve. It is not easy to talk about reopening cinema halls. Theatres can be opened up only when the health situation improves, and we control the Covid-19 situation as a society, we are all trying and working on it. As more and more people get vaccinated things will get better.”
