Aamir Khan Says YES to YouTube Release
As the noise amps up around Aamir Khan’s return film Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir has taken it up a notch and left audiences in awe of his surprise announcement surrounding his 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par—he will be streaming the film for free on YouTube, for a limited time, for fans to enjoy the film. Enjoy it not just as a deep dive into one of India’s most emotional stories but also celebrate the legacy that inspired the spiritual sequel.
At the Aamir Khan fan event called Taare Zameen Par Fan Meetup, Aamir Khan was reunited with fellow cast members Darsheel Safary, Tisca Chopra, and Vipin Sharma for a nostalgic emotional chat. During the chat, host Laksh Maheshwari pointed out the original film is not available for streaming anywhere, to which Aamir instantly said something that made the crowd cheer.
“I have started a YouTube channel called Aamir Khan Talkies. I will tell my team, let’s upload Taare Zameen Par there free of cost. It can be available for 1–2 weeks,” he announced to thunderous applause.
A Walk Down Memory Lane with TZP Team
Darsheel Safary, who played Ishaan Awasthi, remembered feeling left out while shooting Bum Bum Bole:
“Everyone was dancing and I couldn’t. I was distressed even in real life!”
Aamir Khan praised Darsheel’s instincts as a child actor:
“Even when he was dancing off-screen, he soaked up the whole scene. As soon as the camera was on, he would become a different person,”
The hilarious Vipin Sharma, who played Ishaan’s father, shared the following story:
“Darsheel once said, ‘These people are going to hell!’ because everyone was eating chicken and while we vegetarians sat with no food.”
Eventually, it got emotional, and Sharma, his eyes watering, said:
“I never had a child, but Darsheel let me have that feeling of being a father. I will always be there for him.”
A teared-up Darsheel remarked, “I was 8 years old then!”, causing laughter and a standing ovation from the crowd.
Why This Is Important For Sitaare Zameen Par
While Sitaare Zameen Par opens in cinemas on June 20th, the YouTube release of Taare Zameen Par is not just a marketing tactic—it is a form of connectivity through two emotionally charged spaces. In the film, Aamir Khan plays a basketball coach for a team of specially abled children, thematically similar to being a teacher in TZP.
With Genelia D’Souza accompanying him on screen and ten debutants in important roles, the new film is set to bring a lot of heart to a sports drama based on empathy and growth.
Box Office Worldwide Verdict
In a first for a film, Aamir Khan changes the whole idea of promotions by offering an emotional value to the audience rather than an economic one. The free release of Taare Zameen Par on YouTube prior to Sitaare Zameen Par was genius, nostalgic, and smart.
This really reinforces Aamir’s position as not just a superstar, but a storyteller who honors the emotional connection of his audience. And with a start like this, Sitaare Zameen Par will undoubtedly win hearts before it even hits the theaters.
