Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, who is making his Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films’ period drama Maharaj, has another exciting project lined up.
He will be starring opposite South Indian actress Sai Pallavi in a romantic film set in Japan. The film, which is yet to be titled, will be directed by Sunil Pandey and produced by Aamir Khan.
Junaid-Sai to start shooting for their love story by January
This Junaid starrer is a love story in which he will star opposite Sai Pallavi. Sunil Pandey will direct the film and the lead pair will travel to the city of Sapporo in Japan. Interestingly, Sapporo has never been captured in any film by Bollywood till date.
As per a media report in Zoom, the film is expected to go on floors in January 2024, when the Snow Festival will be held. Junaid and Sai Pallavi will play the roles of two young Indians who fall in love in Japan. Sources say that with just two moths to go, Junaid is very excited about this film and doing intense preparatory work regarding his role.

Junaid – Sai Pallavi Starrer to showcase Snow Festival of Sapporo
According to sources, the film will showcase the beautiful landscapes and culture of Japan, especially the famous Snow Festival of Sapporo, which features stunning ice sculptures and snow art. Having witnessed its beauty, the cast and crew felt that Sappora would make the perfect backdrop for this love story. A source close to the film reveals, “The team saw the famous Snow Festival during their recce, which will also feature in the film as it will see the city of Sapporo set in the winters, and the team absolutely loved it. They were thrilled by the picturesque landscapes and the unique cultural experience.”

The film’s team had visited Sapporo this year for a recce and even Junaid accompanied the director and his crew. A source was quoted saying, “Junaid accompanied the team of his next film, an untitled love story in which he will star with Sai Pallavi under the direction of Sunil Pandey, to the city of Sapporo in Japan. The team had gone to do a recce for the film in the works as the preps for the same have begun. It is a love story set in the scenic beauty of this city, Sapporo which has never before been shown in Indian cinema, so there’s going to be something really different in that aspect, in the film.”
Aamir Khan on Junaid’s passion for acting
Earlier, in an interview, Aamir Khan spoke about Junaid’s passion for acting and whether he will be joining Bollywood. The ‘Taare Zameen Pe’ actor said, “It is up to him (about making his film debut). He should lead his own life and take his own decisions. I don’t want to take it for him. I have left it all to him. He certainly has an inclination towards the creative world and towards filmmaking. He is following his path, he has studied theatre. He is actually more interested in theatre than films. I am allowing him to go and find his own path. That’s how it should be. He is very bright.”
