The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Bollywood actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Armaan Kohli earlier today, following recovery of a small quantity of cocaine during a raid at his Juhu residence yesterday Kohli will be produced in a holiday court later in the day.
Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director of NCB’s Mumbai Zonal Unit has apparently led the raid. A team of the anti-drugs agency on Saturday had intercepted one major drug peddler, Ajay Raju Singh, who was in possession of illegal drugs. The NCB official said that the raid on Armaan Kohli was based on Raju’s statement.
“A small quantity of Cocaine has been seized from his (Armaan Kohli) house,” said Sameer Wankhede. The investigation has revealed that the case has international linkages as the cocaine seized has South American origin, the officer added. The NCB Mumbai is probing the route and linkages used to bring the seized cocaine to Mumbai and the involvement of other traffickers.
The NCB official told, “He has been arrested under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.”
The actor has featured in the Salman Khan-starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Jaani Dushman among other films. Armaan Kohli was also one of the contestants of the TV reality show Bigg Boss.
Armaan Kohli was the first choice for Bollywood’s 1992 film Deewana, before Shah Rukh Khan replaced him after he dropped out. “Armaan Kohli is responsible for me being a star. He featured on the Deewana poster with late Divya Bharti. I still have that poster. Thank you for making me a star,” Shah Rukh Khan had said.
