The highly anticipated movie Adipurush, featuring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon, has been released to great excitement. According to early estimates, the film has made an impressive opening of Rs. 37.25 crores in Hindi and 140 Crores of global gross. What deserves commendation is that despite its high production cost, the creators did not excessively raise ticket prices. It has become a common practice to charge exorbitant rates for blockbuster films, often making it unaffordable for the general public. Many individuals have expressed their concerns about this on social media, but their pleas have been ignored. Given this prevailing trend, it was expected that the makers of Adipurush would also follow suit and inflate ticket prices. However, viewers were pleasantly surprised to discover that while the ticket rates were higher than average, they were not as inflated as those for recent big-budget films.
In an interview, Bhushan Kumar discussed the different pricing categories for films, namely regular, popular, and blockbuster. He mentioned that high-profile movies like Brahmastra, RRR, and KGF – Chapter 2 had opted for blockbuster rates, whereas they chose popular rates for Adipurush.
The ticket prices for Adipurush were relatively higher due to its availability in 3D, and theaters factored in their additional costs. On the other hand, Director Om Raut expressed his desire to cap ticket prices, stating that ideally, they would have offered Adipurush tickets at Rs. 100 to make it affordable for the general audience.
Bhushan Kumar shared that Om Raut’s meticulous research proved invaluable in navigating the Censor process smoothly. Om had compiled a comprehensive checklist of things to avoid, and he sought expert opinions to document every aspect thoroughly. As a result, when they approached the Censor Board for certification, they were well-prepared for potential inquiries. Bhushan expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, as Adipurush received a U certificate.
