The Tamil remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy is out, the Tamil movie is titled as ‘Adithya Varma’. The trailer was out on Tuesday. Arjun Reddy as well as the Hindi remake Kabir Singh were heavily criticised for glorifying toxic masculinity and violence against women. However, even after criticizing so much, the movie didn’t stop breaking records at the box office. Considering the box-office success of the previous films, despite their blatant misogyny, this isn’t surprising.
Adithya Varma will hit the screens on November 8. The movie stars Dhruv Vikram, Banita Sandhu and Priya Anand in the pivotal roles. The movie is directed by Gireesaaya, an associate of Sandeep Vanga, the director of Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh.
The trailer begins with a disciplinary hearing and then goes back to tell the story of the angry doctor, Adithya, played by Dhruv. The trailer has a mix of all the highs and lows in Dr Adithya’s life. Priya Anand is surprisingly not seen in this trailer.
Banita Sandhu, who made her debut into Bollywood with October will be making her Tamil debut in this film as Meera. Ravi K Chandran has done the film’s cinematography while Vivek Harshan has edited the final output. Radhan, who originally did the music for Arjun Reddy and Bala’s version has been retained as the music director for this version of remake too.
After completing the shoot of the movie, Dhruv posted a video on Instagram, stating that he was thankful for the opportunity and his father. “Adithya Varma will always be the most beautiful thing that’s ever happened to me. He gave me a purpose, gave my life meaning, gave me clarity about myself and most importantly, taught me how to never give up. So much love for all the people in this video, especially the man (his dad Vikram) in the last frame. Couldn’t have done it without you,” he wrote.
