Raj & DK, the makers of hit web series like The Family Man and Farzi, are gearing up for their next big project. Their upcoming series tentatively titled Rakht Brahmand, will feature a star-studded cast of Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Wamiqa Gabbi.
The details of the series remain under wraps, but it’s known that Raj & DK will not be directing this show. Instead, they will serve as showrunners and producers through their D2R Films banner.
Filming Of Rakht Brahmand To Begin In August 2025
The directorial duties will be taken up by Rahi Anil Barve, who gained acclaim for his mythological horror film Tumbbad (2018). The pre-production for Rakht Brahmand has been underway for the past six months, with filming scheduled to begin in August 2024.
A source close to the project told Peeping Moon, “Rahi has created a mysterious, fantastical world that has never been explored in Indian cinema before. Aditya, Samantha, and Wamiqa were immediately taken aback by the concept and visualisation and are excited to venture into entirely uncharted professional territory with this show.”
The source added, “It’s a passion project that Rahi has been developing since before Tumbbad came out. He had initially planned it as a feature film but adapted it into a web series due to extensive material that couldn’t fit into the movie format. Expect an incredible, exhilarating ride that will transport you into a world full of deceit and double-crossing, love and sacrifice, and destiny.”
The source also hinted that the show is expected to be twice as grand in scale as Rahi’s upcoming Amazon Prime series, Gulkanda Tales, which is also produced by Raj & DK.
This Aditya Roy Kapur Starrer Is Expected To Debut On Netflix In Late 2025
For Aditya Roy Kapur, this will be his second web series, following his successful debut in the OTT space with Disney+Hotstar’s The Night Manager. Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be working with Raj & DK for the third time, after The Family Man 2 and the upcoming Citadel: Honey Bunny. Wamiqa Gabbi is adding Rakht Brahmand to her impressive list of web series, which includes Grahan (Disney+Hotstar), Mai (Netflix), Jubilee (Amazon Prime), and Charlie Chopra & the Mystery of Solang Valley (SonyLIV).
Raj & DK are continuing their collaboration with Netflix, following the success of Guns & Gulaabs. The duo has recently completed post-production for Citadel: Honey Bunny, which stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and is currently working on the third season of The Family Man for Amazon Prime Video. They also have Gulkanda Tales in the pipeline, directed by Rahi Anil Barve and featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Kunal Kemmu, and Patralekha.
This period fantasy series will debut globally on Netflix in late 2025.
