The teaser of the much-awaited film Ae Watan Mere Watan, starring Sara Ali Khan as the freedom fighter Usha Mehta, was released on Friday by Prime Video and producer Karan Johar. The film, directed by Kannan Iyer, is based on the true story of Usha Mehta, who operated a secret radio station during the Quit India Movement in 1942.

The teaser begins with Karan Johar introducing the film and its inspiration, saying that Usha Mehta was a 22-year-old girl who displayed courage and patriotism by using an underground radio to unite the nation against the British Raj. He then compares her to other brave heroes of the Indian freedom struggle, such as Sehmat Syed from Raazi and Captain Vikram Batra from Shershaah, both of whom were portrayed by his previous productions.
The teaser then shows glimpses of Sara Ali Khan as Usha Mehta, who is seen wearing khadi clothes, spinning the charkha, and broadcasting messages of resistance and hope from a hidden location.
The film also features Emraan Hashmi in a guest appearance, as well as other actors such as Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’Neil, and Anand Tiwari in supporting roles.
The film, which is a Dharmatic Entertainment Production, is set to premiere on Prime Video on March 21, coinciding with the Shaheed Diwas, the day when Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were hanged by the British in 1931.
