Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently busy with the shooting of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, has signed another big project with his former mentor, Sanjay Leela Bhansali which was announced recently. The actor, who made his debut with Bhansali’s Saawariya in 2007, will reunite with the filmmaker after 17 years for his next directorial, Love & War.
On January 24th, 2024, the legendary filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali surprised everyone by announcing his next cinematic spectacle Love & War. The filmmaker has got the biggest casting coup on board with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal and has unveiled a title poster that features the handwritten signature of the lead cast.
About Love & War
Love & War is said to be an action love story inspired by the 1964 film Sangam, starring Raj Kapoor, Vyjayanthimala and Rajendra Kumar. The film will also feature Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in pivotal roles, making it one of the most anticipated films of 2025.
Ranbir To Play Grey Character In Love & War
According to sources, Ranbir will play a character with grey shades in Love & War, which will showcase his versatility and acting prowess. “It’s a twisted grey character and warrants the presence of someone who is not just a great actor but also a superstar. It has elements of heroism but deep within lies the psychic undertones. It’s a solid subject with strong scope for performance, and that’s what has excited both Ranbir and SLB to reunite after 17 long years,” a source told Pinkvilla.
The source also revealed that Bhansali was impressed by Ranbir’s performance in Animal, a crime thriller directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and decided to cast him for the challenging role in Love & War. “Love And War is essentially a love triangle with war in its backdrop. Ranbir’s performance in Animal blew SLB’s mind away. While Love And War is an action love story on the face of it, the inter-character dynamic holds key importance. While Alia and Vicky’s part have their own share of challenges in terms of performances, SLB over the years was looking to find a face for the role that Ranbir is doing at the moment,” revealed a source close to the development.
Love & War is expected to go on floors by the end of 2024, with a marathon schedule. The pre-production of Love And War is going on in full swing. The film will be produced by Bhansali Productions, and is slated to release on Christmas 2025. The film will mark the second collaboration of Ranbir and Alia on the big screen, who are also married in real life. The film will also mark the second collaboration of Alia and Bhansali, after Gangubai Kathiawadi.
