Pooja Hegde’s flop streak is not stopping anytime soon. Her films like Radhe Shyaam, Acharya, Beast, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan were supposed to be big hits but failed terribly.
Even her latest release Deva alongside Shahid Kapoor which seemed like her last hope has opened to below par box office numbers. Day one opened at 5.78 crore and went only to 6.61 crore on second day, it is expected to make a lifetime of just 35-40 crore.
Her role in the film was just like an eye candy. Except for a kissing scene her role had no charm or even a valid storyline. Fans feel that Pooja’s Bollywood comeback seems impossible now. She appeared in an interview with Shahid where the media person asked her if she has been lucky to star with big heroes like Salman, Hrithik, Ranveer, Shahid etc.
She said that she feels she has got these roles because she deserves them. But the reporter pressed on her flop career and she lost her cool – she asked him in a straight up annoyed state “Aapko Mujhse Problem Kya Hai?”
Hegde explained her perspective by citing a popular saying: “I think there’s a saying that ‘luck is when opportunity meets preparation.’ I think that’s what happened with me. When the opportunity came, I was preparing myself to be able to do it. So, if you want to call it luck, then sure.”
Shahid saw the scene getting tense and tried to make a light hearted joke to make it easy. It clearly shows that Pooja is feeling insecure with her career and is desperate to make a comeback.
Shahid Kapoor quickly diffused the tension by joking, “Andar hi andar ye bhi woh actors ke saath dance karna chahte hain. He wants to be you. (Deep down, he also wants to dance with those actors. He wants to be you.)”
Pooja Hegde’s Bollywood Journey
Pooja Hegde made her acting debut with the Tamil film Mugamoodi in 2012 before transitioning to Bollywood with Mohenjo Daro (2016) opposite Hrithik Roshan. She has since starred in major films such as Housefull 4, Cirkus, and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Her latest release, Deva, featuring Shahid Kapoor, hit theatres on January 31, 2025.
