Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is currently basking in the success of his recent hit Amar Singh Chamkila, featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. He has finally opened up about his long-standing ambition to immortalise the divine love story of Radha and Krishna on the silver screen.
In a candid conversation with News 18 Showsha, Ali expressed his profound inspiration drawn from the tales of Radha and Krishna, rooted deep in Indian mythology. He revealed, “I want to make the Radha Krishna film. I’m very inspired by their stories and the mythology. But I’ve to bring myself to a position where I can make it.”
Imtiaz Ali Wants TO Do THIS For Being Able To Create A Film On Radha-Krishna Love Story
Ali acknowledged the necessity to internalise the essence of Radha and Krishna within himself before embarking on such a monumental cinematic journey. He humbly confessed, “It’s just that I need to imbibe some of the characteristics of Radha and Krishna in myself to be able to make that film.”
The movie, which Imtiaz Ali talked about in 2018, was supposed to get support from Reliance Entertainment, but it got delayed unexpectedly. Still, Ali stays positive, hoping for the right time to show the story to Indian viewers. He asked fans to pray for his dream movie to come true. “That time will come, hopefully. To all those who want to watch this film, I would urge them to pray that I can make it.”
Imtiaz Ali’s Changed Perception After Success Of Amar Singh Chamkila
Ali felt encouraged by the success of Amar Singh Chamkila, which made him believe that Indian audiences are perceptive. He praised their skill in understanding subtle details and criticised the idea of underestimating their intelligence. “We might say things like humaara audience bewakoof hai (our audience is stupid) but I think we, as filmmakers, cannot reach the level of this audience,” Ali remarked.
The filmmaker’s official announcement in 2018, made on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, signalled his unwavering commitment to bringing the timeless tale of Radha and Krishna to life. With a symbolic Instagram post featuring a peacock feather and a flute, he shared his vision, stating, “It has been my dream to step into the world of Radha Krishna.”
Reliance Entertainment’s Shibasish Sarkar echoed Ali’s enthusiasm, describing the endeavour as “extremely fascinating,” emphasising the collaborative efforts to ensure the project’s grandeur aligns with its epic nature.
