Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar’s recent biographical drama ‘Sam Bahadur‘ on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, starring Vicky Kaushal was critically acclaimed and saw decent box office success despite clash with blockbuster Animal at box office.
With just one week post the release, there are media reports claiming that the director has now signed actor Sidharth Malhotra for her upcoming film, which is expected to begin shooting in 2024.

Meghna Gulzar and Sidharth Malhotra to work for the first time together
This will be the first time that Meghna Gulzar and Sidharth Malhotra will work together for the first time. The details of the film are yet to be revealed, but according to sources, it is a film set against the backdrop of a horrifying true story. The filmmaker is known for her critically-acclaimed titles like ‘Filhaal‘, ‘Talvar‘, ‘Raazi‘ and ‘Chhapaak‘.
“Sid and Meghna Gulzar have been discussing a probable collaboration for a while now and they have finally zeroed in on a subject whose narrative will take the nation by shock. It’s set against the backdrop of a horrifying true story and the idea is to portray it with utmost sensitivity for the big screen. The film will go on floors by Mid-2024,” revealed a source close to the development to Pinkvilla. The source added further that Meghna is currently busy giving finishing touches to her script.

“Meghna had done all her research on this subject through the last few years and got the source material in place for the subject. She was deeply moved by all that happened and Sid resonated with her emotions on reading the script. Both stakeholders are looking forward to teaming up on this special project,” the source added. The film will be produced by Junglee Pictures, who have previously worked with Meghna on Talwar and Raazi.
‘Sam Bahadur‘, which also stars Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Neeraj Kabi, hit theatres on December 1, 2023 and has already collected Rs.50 crores at domestic box office.
Sidharth on the other hand is currently preparing for the launch of Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force and then the Karan Johar produced Yodha. He is likely to begin filming for Dinesh Vijan’s upcoming project in early 2024, followed by the Meghna Gulzar movie with Junglee.
