After the release of his upcoming film ‘Dunki‘ starring Shah Rukh Khan, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is all set to enter the OTT space with a new project, starring Vikrant Massey.
Rajkumar Hirani to venture into OTT space
According to reports, Hirani will produce and provide creative input for an untitled web show that will feature actor Vikrant Massey in the lead role.
Hirani, who is known for his blockbuster films like ‘3 Idiots’, ‘PK’ and ‘Sanju’, has been keen to explore the digital medium for over a year and was waiting for the right script to come along.
Vikrant Massey, who has impressed the audience with his performances in films like ‘Chhapaak’, ‘Love Hostel’ and ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’, is said to be excited to collaborate with Hirani for this project. The actor is currently busy with release of his recent film release ’12th Fail’ which has been garnering positive reviews.

With production preparations in full swing, the remaining ensemble and other essential details are being rapidly solidified. A source says, “Raju (as Hirani is fondly called) wanted to get into OTT since a year or two and wasted no time once he got the right script.”
The details of the genre, plot and platform of Hirani’s web show are yet to be revealed. However, it is expected to be a high-quality content-driven project that will showcase Hirani’s signature style of storytelling and humour.
Dunki
Hirani is also gearing up for the release of his film ‘Dunki‘, which explores the illegal immigration route known as the Donkey Flight. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal and others. The film is touted to be a box office success and will mark Hirani’s comeback after a gap of five years.
Boman Irani, who plays a London-based lawyer in the film, recently attended the inauguration of CINTAA House in Mumbai and praised the film and his co-star. He said that Dunki has turned out very well and is going to be ‘Shah Rukh’s hat-trick’. He also revealed that he had a great time working with Hirani and Khan, whom he called ‘two of the finest storytellers in the industry’.
The first poster of Dunki was leaked last week, showing Shah Rukh Khan in a soldier’s attire with the tagline ‘A soldier’s journey to keep a promise’. The film is slated to release on December 21, 2023, around the Christmas week.
