Screw Dheela, starring Tiger Shroff and directed by Shashank Khaitan, is an upcoming film backed by Karan Johar-led Dharma Productions. It has been put off by a year due to the alleged feud over a leading actress.
Shroff had signed a paperwork for Rs 35 crore and the budget ranged nearly Rs 140 crore as per media reports. The 2 minute 59 second trailer showcases villain punching Akhilesh Mishra (Tiger Shroff) who has been held hostage. The movie is expected to hit the floor next year.
The Screw Dheela’s team had chosen Rashmika Mandanna as Shroff’s romantic interest; however, the production house was looking to rope in Shanaya Kapoor as part of it. Shroff had also joined hands for Pooja Entertainment’s ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ remake.
“There were a lot of date issues surrounding the production of ‘Screw Dheela’. Rashmika Mandana was being considered for the lead, but she didn’t have the dates. Dharma and Karan Johar were keen on signing Shanaya Kapoor as the lead, but that didn’t work out as well. Eventually, the film got pushed because the leading lady couldn’t be finalised for the production schedule,” ET Now quoted its source as saying.
It added, *The makers of Screw Dheela wanted to sign Tiger for multiple months but he had already committed to other projects. One such project is the Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan remake with Akshay Kumar. That film is slated to start in the first quarter of 2023 and that’s why the Screw Dheela shoot would not work out.”
Dharma productions issues a clarification saying it was delayed due to date issues and their team is mulling over another project altogether with Shroff. “Dharma Productions and Tiger Shroff share an amazing relationship. Aside from Screw Dheela, Tiger Shroff to team up with Dharma Productions for another monstrous activity film. Screw Dheela is postponed because of date issues, shoot to initiate later one year from now,” the statement read.
