How often do you hear a star kid admit they were terrible in their debut film? Not very often. But Agastya Nanda just did exactly that, and his honesty is winning hearts. The young actor, who is gearing up for his second film Ikkis, has opened up about his struggles and why he views this war biopic as his redemption story. This is not your usual promotional talk. This is raw, real, and extremely brave.
Speaking at a press meet, Agastya did not hold back. He made it very clear that he knows his debut film The Archies did not work and that his own performance was disappointing. But instead of making excuses, he is using that failure as fuel to come back stronger with Ikkis.
I Am Very Well Aware Of My Privilege
Agastya Nanda comes from Bollywood royalty. He is the grandson of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, which automatically puts him in the spotlight. But the young actor is not running away from the privileged conversation. In fact, he addressed it head-on.
He said, “I am very well aware of my privilege. Do I think my first film was good? No. How was I in the film? Terrible. So, I view Ikkis as my last chance to prove myself.” These words show a level of self-awareness that is rare, especially for someone making their second film. He knows that being a star kid opened doors for him, but he also knows that talent cannot be inherited.
The Archies Backlash Became His Driving Force
The Archies, directed by Zoya Akhtar, was released in 2023 on Netflix. The film also starred Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan and late Sridevi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor. It was one of the most talked-about debuts of the year, but unfortunately for all the wrong reasons.
The film was largely panned by critics and audiences. The performances by the star kids, including Agastya, were heavily trolled on social media. For most people, such brutal criticism could be crushing. But Agastya took a different approach. He used all that negativity as motivation to do better.
He shared that every negative comment and every piece of trolling pushed him to work harder for Ikkis. Instead of feeling defeated, he channeled that energy into his craft. That kind of mental strength is impressive, especially for someone so young in their career.
Acting Is For Myself, Business Is For The Audience
Agastya also made a powerful statement about his commitment to acting. He said, “Even if I don’t succeed, I will not stop acting. I will pick my camera, go back to Delhi and start shooting with a bunch of friends. Acting is for myself, and business is for the audience.”
This shows that his love for acting goes beyond box office numbers and public validation. He is clear that even if Ikkis does not work commercially, he will continue pursuing his passion. That is the kind of dedication that eventually leads to great performances.
About Ikkis
