While we all were expecting to see Deepika Padukone donning the role of a Bengali courtesan-turned-theatre actress-singer, Binodini Dasi, also known as Nati Binodini, in Pradeep Sarkar’s next biopic. It turns out she turned it down.
As per the information, Vasant Thakkar first approached Deepika Padukone for the character. However, later he moved to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who seems all set to do the project.
Pradeep who is producing the film with Vasant Thakkar Pradeep who is producing it with Vasant Thakkar is making a biopic on Binodini who ruled the Kolkata stage for over a decade 19th century. She founded the theatre group called Star Theatre with play writer Girish Chandra Ghosh.
Now if all goes as planned then this will be send film of Aishwarya after Fanney Khan in 2018. On the other hand, Deepika is yet to announce any project after Chhapaak. Deepika will next be seen in the sports drama ‘83 with husband Ranveer Singh and Shakun Batra’s romantic drama with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Pandey.
Although there are several documentaries and plays that have been made on her this will be the first time that a Bollywood movie is portraying her life on the big screen.
