Ajay Devgn, who is known for his versatile roles in films like Singham, Golmaal, and Drishyam, is all set to reunite with producer Luv Ranjan for the sequel of their 2019 hit rom-com, De De Pyaar De. The film, which also starred Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh, was a sleeper hit at the box office and received positive reviews from the critics and the audience. The film had an open ending, which hinted at a possible sequel.
Another Sequel From Luv Ranjan After Pyar Ka Punchnamma
According to sources close to the development, De De Pyaar De 2 will take the story of Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh’s characters forward. While the first part dealt with Ajay Devgn’s side of the family accepting his relationship with a 26-year-old woman, the sequel will focus on the reaction of Rakul Preet Singh’s family to the relationship with a 50-year-old man.
The sources also revealed that the script of De De Pyaar De 2 is written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain, who also wrote the first part. The film will mark the directorial debut of Anshul Sharma, who has worked as a creative director on Luv Ranjan’s previous films like Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.
Shoot Begins Early 2024
Ajay Devgn, who is currently busy with his upcoming projects like Singham Again and has confirmed that he will start shooting for De De Pyaar De 2 early next year. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he said, “I think they are writing the script. We will start shooting next year sometime.” He also expressed his excitement to work with Luv Ranjan again. Ajay has produced some of his recent films like Bholaa, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Bhuj: The Pride of India.
Will Tabu return in De De Pyaar De 2?
Tabu, who played Ajay Devgn’s ex-wife in De De Pyaar De, was one of the highlights of the film. Her chemistry with Ajay Devgn and her comic timing were appreciated by the fans. However, it is not clear yet whether she will reprise her role in the sequel or not. Rakul Preet Singh, who played Ajay Devgn’s love interest in the film, has hinted that she will be back in De De Pyaar De 2. In an interview with Filmfare last year, she said, “De De Pyaar De was left open-ended because there was a thought that there might be a sequel to it. I have been checking with them as to when would we start working on it”³.

Luv Ranjan, who is known for his successful films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, has several sequels in the works.
