Ajay Devgn’s Chauhaan has taken a significant step forward even before cameras roll. A public notice issued by Reliance Industries Limited has laid out the proposed rights structure for the film, revealing that Jio Studios is set to take sweeping control over its commercial exploitation while also securing a 50 percent stake in the intellectual property.
The development offers the clearest picture yet of how Chauhaan is being mounted, and it underlines the scale of Jio Studios’ involvement in the Ajay Devgn-led project.
Key Details Of The Chauhaan Rights Deal
Reliance Industries Limited, through Jio Studios, is in the process of entering into a production agreement with Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Media Entertainment Private Limited for Chauhaan. The notice was published in the August 22, 2026 issue of Complete Cinema magazine.
Under the proposed arrangement, Jio Studios will acquire 50 percent of the film’s intellectual property rights and 50 percent of its derivative rights, including the underlying works, across all languages, worldwide and in perpetuity. The bigger headline, however, is Jio Studios’ control over 100 percent of the exploitation rights of the film and all associated material across languages, platforms, media, mediums and formats.
That means the studio is positioned to control how Chauhaan is commercially used across existing and future formats. Jio Studios is also set to own 100 percent of the music rights worldwide and in perpetuity, giving it an even stronger hold over the film’s long-term monetisation potential.
Film Team And Creative Setup
Chauhaan is being written and directed by Neeraj Yadav, while Aanand L Rai is attached as the film’s creative director. The notice also states that Jio Studios will have the right of first offer to produce, alongside Colour Yellow, any audio visual derivative works based on the film.
Reliance has invited any individual, company, or entity with a claim, objection, right, or interest in the proposed arrangement, the film, or its rights to submit documentary evidence within seven days of the publication of the notice. While the agreement is still in the process of being formalised, the notice marks the first detailed public disclosure of the ownership and exploitation framework behind the film.
Ajay Devgn’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Ajay Devgn has stayed consistently active across theatrical and OTT releases over the last few years. In 2024, he led Shaitaan, Maidaan, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, and Singham Again, with Shaitaan emerging as the standout commercial success of that run while Maidaan drew strong appreciation for his performance. Before that, his recent releases also included the Disney+ Hotstar series Rudra: The Edge of Darkness in 2022 and the theatrical titles Drishyam 2 in 2022 and Bholaa in 2023.
Looking ahead from August 25, 2026, Devgn’s confirmed upcoming slate includes Ranger, which is listed for a December 4, 2026 theatrical release, while titles such as Drishyam 3, Golmaal 5, and Shaitaan 2 are also in various stages of development or production. Against that backdrop, Chauhaan adds another major project to a packed phase in the actor’s career.
