Ajay Devgn has headed back to one of the most evocative landscapes in his career. The actor has begun shooting for Chauhaan in Kargil, bringing him once again to Ladakh, a region closely tied to one of his earlier war dramas, LOC Kargil. The return gives the film an immediate sense of scale and memory, while also marking a significant new chapter in Devgn’s packed big screen slate.
That emotional full circle now has a very real production footprint on the ground. The schedule is already underway in the mountain town, where Devgn arrived days ago and began filming key scenes. The makers secured the required permissions in advance and put arrangements in place for a smooth shoot. With temperatures dipping sharply in Kargil, the weather is also expected to lend an added layer of realism to the film’s visual world.
Ajay Devgn Begins Chauhaan Shoot In Kargil
The Kargil leg is now in motion, placing Chauhaan in one of the most striking backdrops available to a film of this scale. For a story rooted in conflict and intensity, the terrain offers more than spectacle. It brings a raw, lived-in texture that can deepen the film’s emotional and visual impact.
That makes this schedule especially notable for Devgn, whose screen presence has often drawn strength from physically demanding, high-stakes stories. Shooting in Kargil also reinforces the makers’ attempt to ground Chauhaan in an environment that feels authentic rather than constructed.
A Reunion With Ladakh After Loc Kargil
This is not Devgn’s first time filming in Ladakh. He had earlier shot crucial scenes in the region for J P Dutta’s LOC Kargil, which released in 2003. His return for Chauhaan therefore carries a natural sense of continuity, connecting an earlier war drama in his filmography with a new one more than two decades later.
Chauhaan is directed by Neeraj Yadav and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aanand L Rai, and Himanshu Sharma under Jio Studios and Colour Yellow Productions. The film was announced on June 25, 2026, on the birth anniversary of Veeru Devgan, Ajay Devgn’s father. It is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 1, 2027.
The official announcement video ended with the line, “Pathaanon se kehna, Chauhaan aa raha hai.” The film also marks Devgn’s first collaboration with Aanand L Rai, adding another point of curiosity to a project that already carries a strong setting and a distinct emotional callback.
Ajay Devgn Recent And Upcoming Work
That sense of momentum extends well beyond Chauhaan. Ajay Devgn has remained one of Hindi cinema’s busiest stars in recent years, balancing franchise titles with films in very different genres. His 2024 releases included Shaitaan, Maidaan, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, and Singham Again, a run that moved across horror, sports drama, romance, and action.
His current slate shows that range continuing. In 2026, he featured in Drishyam: The Conclusion, while Dhamaal 4 also forms part of his recent line-up. Looking ahead, Chauhaan stands out as one of his confirmed theatrical releases for 2027. The project not only adds another war drama to his body of work, but also brings him back to terrain that already holds a memorable place in his screen journey.
