Trailer of Ajay Devgn & Saif Ali Khan led Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was released yesterday. Where on one side, people are praising the trailer, on the other side, controversies have started piling up for this period drama. The movie is all set to release in January 2020. But it seems the ride is shaky ahead.
This isn’t the first time a period drama is facing issues pre-release. The memory of what happened to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is still fresh in our minds. This time, the film is different but the issue is the same. Filmmakers trying to tamper history in order to make it suitable for their vision. Ajay Devgn is seen portraying the life of Taanaji Malusare
The right-wing organisation, Sambhaji Brigade, has questioned the trailer of the film. It’s asking for clarification from the makers. The issue started when, in the trailer, a certain character from the film is shown throwing a wooden stick at Shivaji Maharaj. Ajay Devgn’s wife Kajol is portraying the role of Savitribai Malusare. She is also questioned for her dialogues. They also opposed the attempt of showing the religious symbol of Om on a Saffron flag.
Sambhaji Brigade said, “Movies should be made on historical topics, but we will not tolerate the distortion of historical incidents/ facts.” Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan also have a face-off sequence in the trailer. It’s yet to seen how the makers respond to this.
