Akshay Kumar And Priyadarshan Set Up Ninth Collaboration With Tips Films After Bhooth Bangla And Haiwaan

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are extending one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable creative equations with another theatrical entertainer. After teaming up on Bhooth Bangla and wrapping Haiwaan, the actor director duo has now set up a fresh project with Tips Films, signalling that their current phase together is not a one-off reunion but a sustained return to the space that defined some of their biggest crowd-pleasers.

Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that Priyadarshan is developing a new untitled comic entertainer with Akshay in the lead, backed by Tips Films. The project gives the production house its first collaboration with the veteran filmmaker and brings Akshay back into the Tips fold after Entertainment in 2014.

More importantly, the alliance places an established star director pairing inside a banner known for mainstream Hindi entertainers, suggesting a deliberate push toward a broad theatrical comedy at a time when Akshay appears to be leaning strongly into familiar strengths.

Why The Tips Films Alliance Stands Out

The new film is being developed as a full-blown Priyadarshan comic entertainer, and the choice of Tips Films is a notable one. The banner has long had a strong presence in commercial Hindi cinema, so its decision to back this reunion project gives the film an added layer of market interest beyond the nostalgia factor attached to Akshay and Priyadarshan.

The director actor pairing already shares a formidable track record through films such as Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan and Khatta Meetha. Their latest release Bhooth Bangla arrived in cinemas on April 17, 2026 and has crossed 100 crore nett India in 8 days, while Haiwaan, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, has been completed and is in post-production. Once the Tips Films venture goes on floors, it will mark their ninth collaboration.

Akshay himself recently summed up the rhythm that keeps the partnership working. During Bhooth Bangla promotions, he said, “This man is full of discipline. Full of discipline. Our 7 o’clock shift starts at 7 o’clock. (By) 3 o’clock, pack-up happens.”

Akshay Kumar’s Comedy-Heavy Next Phase

That quote lands at an interesting moment in Akshay’s career. Over the past four years, he has moved through a packed run that included Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, OMG 2, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Housefull 5, Sarfira and Khel Khel Mein, balancing social dramas, franchise films and remakes while keeping an unusually busy release calendar.

What now stands out is the clear tilt back toward comedy and familiar collaborations. Bhooth Bangla has already brought him back together with Priyadarshan on the big screen, Haiwaan keeps that momentum going with a darker twist, and this newly planned Tips Films project strengthens the sense that Akshay is entering a fresh comic phase driven by trusted filmmakers, theatrical instincts and a genre where his timing has historically clicked best with audiences.
