Various films released recently faced boycott calls on social media. However, many still performed well while overshadowing the planned machinery of Boycott Gang. Viewers couldn’t resist binge-watching those.
We take a look at top performing movies on OTT (Over-the-top) this week:
- Cuttputlli
With 80 lakh views, in the Ranjit Tiwari-directed film, Akshay Kumar plays a police officer. It is discovered that Rakul, a teacher, is his love interest. Under the banner of Pooja Entertainment, it’s produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Jackky Bhagnani.
- Darlings
It clocked 67 lakh views where mother’s role is played by Shefali Shah and daughter’s role by Alia Bhatt, who challenge the patriarchal society.
- Good Luck Jerry
It shows the story of an innocent girl, played by Janhvi Kapoor who gets into the world of cocaine smuggling. It is an official remake of the Tamil original and garnered 49 lakh views.
- Shershaah
With 39 lakh views, it is an account of inspiring Indian soldier Capt. Vikram Batra, played by Sidharth Malhotra, who contributed to India’s eventual victory in the Kargil War in 1999. Kiara Advani plays his opposite.
- Bhuj
It received 36 lakh views and stars Ajay Devgn, who is a race against time and starts to rebuild the annihilated airfield when the Bhuj airbase gets bombed during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.
- Haseen Dilruba
With 32 lakh views, it has Taapsee Pannu playing the role of a wife, who is being probed as a suspect in the killing of her husband, who is portrayed by Vikrant Massey.
Criteria for films on OTT to be Hit or Super-Hit:
If a film receives below 40 lakh views, it’s considered a failure. If it gets between 40 lakh and 70 lakh views, it’s deemed ordinary. If it gets between 70 and 80 lakh views, it’s considered a hit. If it’s crore or more, it’s deemed a super-hit.
