Akshay Kumar may be fronting one of the biggest ensemble entertainers of the year, but it was a deeply personal thought on life, not comedy, that landed the strongest at his latest public appearance. While promoting Welcome to the Jungle, the actor was asked what money means to him today, and his answer shifted the conversation away from fame and fortune and firmly toward health.
For an actor who has spent more than three decades as one of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars, Kumar’s response felt especially telling. He acknowledged that financial security matters, but made it clear that it no longer sits above everything else in his value system.
“Anyone who says, ‘I don’t like money,’ is either a saint or someone who already has plenty of it. Those are probably the only two reasons a person would say that they don’t care about money.”
That candid line quickly gave way to the deeper point he wanted to make.

Speaking at the event, Kumar said, “I have seen many people earn wealth, lose everything, and then build it back through hard work and determination,” underscoring how often life allows people a second chance at rebuilding financially.
What, in his view, is far harder to reclaim is physical well-being. “It is very rare to see someone lose their health and get it back completely.”
That conviction shaped the heart of his message. “There is nothing more important than good health. That’s why, in my opinion, health is far more valuable than money. There is nothing more important than good health.”
He ended the exchange on a simple and heartfelt note. “My prayer to God is that everyone is blessed with good health. Once you have your health, money can always be earned again,” he said signing off.
The moment also added an unexpectedly reflective layer to the promotional campaign around Welcome to the Jungle, which releases in cinemas worldwide on June 26, 2026, with paid previews beginning on June 25 from 7:30 pm. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film pairs Kumar with a sprawling ensemble and positions him once again at the centre of a large-scale commercial comedy.
