In a major development in the world of entertainment, Jio/Voot has acquired the direct-to-digital rights of the highly anticipated Akshay Kumar starrer “Oh My God 2”. The movie is the sequel to the 2012 hit film “Oh My God”, which was directed by Umesh Shukla and starred Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar in lead roles.
With the acquisition of the rights of “Oh My God 2”, the platform is likely to attract a large number of viewers who are eagerly waiting for the release of the movie. Considering its direct to OTT release, it’s important to note the previous theatrical releases of Akshay have been a flop.
The original “Oh My God” was a satirical comedy that dealt with the sensitive topic of religion and blind faith. The movie was a critical and commercial success and was appreciated for its unique storyline and powerful performances. The sequel is expected to continue in the same vein.
