Ali Abbas Zafar is gearing up to roll cameras on his next big-screen project with Ahaan Panday, and the filmmaker is not keeping his excitement under wraps. As pre-production gathers pace, Zafar has also opened up about what, in his view, makes the young actor stand out, calling the quality “rare” at a time when new faces are constantly fighting to be seen.
The yet-untitled film, backed by Yash Raj Films, is being mounted as a high-profile action romance, with Sharvari set to star opposite Ahaan. Aaishvary Thackeray is also linked to the project as the antagonist. As of February 26, 2026, the team is deep in prep mode, with the principal cast training for the film’s physical demands.
The Latest Update On The Film’s Shoot Schedule
The film is scheduled to go on floors on March 30, 2026, with the first schedule planned at Mumbai’s YRF Studios. The initial leg is expected to run for 27 days. After that, the unit is set to travel to the UK for a longer schedule in May, which is planned for around 60 days.
According to previously shared schedule details, the actors are currently undergoing action training and are expected to continue the prep through the end of March. The overall shoot is being targeted to wrap by July 2026, with the film aiming for a theatrical release in early 2027.
Ali Abbas Zafar On Ahaan Panday’s Biggest Strength
While confirming the momentum around the project, Zafar singled out Ahaan’s screen presence, focusing on his emotional honesty. “He doesn’t perform emotions, he feels them. And as a director, that’s a rare quality to find. The camera has a way of catching the truth and with him, the truth is always there in his eyes,” the director said.
Zafar also spoke about the excitement of working with “raw, new talent,” adding that he sees Ahaan as being right at the top among actors of his generation.
Ahaan Panday’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Ahaan Panday made his acting debut with Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara (2025), co-starring Aneet Padda and produced by Yash Raj Films. His next confirmed feature is this untitled Ali Abbas Zafar action romance, which begins shooting on March 30, 2026 and is planned for an early 2027 theatrical release.
For Sharvari, 2024 marked a busy run with Munjya (2024), Maharaj (2024, Netflix) and Vedaa (2024), where she starred opposite John Abraham. She also has Alpha in the pipeline, a YRF Spy Universe film that pairs her with Alia Bhatt.
