Shahid Kapoor is currently at the best phase of his career. After making a comeback with 2019’s Kabir Singh, he has been getting many offers. Since then he has only done two films, Jersey and the recently released Bloody Daddy. In the latter, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, he plays the role of a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer. A remake of the 2011 French film Sleepless Night, the film is available to watch for free on Jio Cinema. Now, Zafar has opened up about its sequel as the film has been receiving mostly positive responses, particularly its action sequences.
Ever since the film came out, netizens have been stating that it deserved a big screen release because of its visual appeal. Zafar has said that he considers this kind of comment as a compliment. However, he made it clear that he always intended to release it on the streaming platform because of its mature subject matter and certain scenes that could have ran into censorship trouble.
The writer-director has expressed his interest in directing its sequel in the near future. He stated that if people are talking about the film and the characters a few months later, then that is the biggest validation. Zafar also said that he would try to release the sequel in the theatres. Recently, Vivek Agnihotri questioned why the film, which was made on a massive budget, was available for free.

Upcoming Projects Of Ali Abbas Zafar
Zafar recently finished the shooting of the action comedy flick Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. The film is scheduled to have a massive release on Eid 2024. The film is reportedly based on David Dhawan’s 1998 comedy film of the same name which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda. The original one itself was based on the Hollywood buddy cop-drama Bad Boys.
Zafar’s last theatrical release was the 2019 drama film Bharat starring Salman Khan and Disha Patani. Since then, he has directed the Amazon Prime series Tandav and Diljit Dosanjh starrer Netflix film Jogi which was released in 2022.
