Alia Bhatt is making headlines again, but this time it’s for a comment that has left many fans confused. The actor, who is set to join the YRF Spy Universe with the film Alpha, recently called the project her “first action film.” This statement has started a big debate on social media, with many users questioning if she has forgotten about her previous action roles in films like Jigra.
The internet was quick to react, and now there’s a full-blown discussion about what counts as an “action film” and which of Alia’s movies fit the description.
What Alia Bhatt Said In Milan
The comment was made while Alia was attending the Gucci Spring/Summer 2026 Fashion Show during Milan Fashion Week. Speaking to the press at the event, she expressed her excitement for Alpha, which is expected to release this December. She said, “That’s a big one for me because it’s my first venture into action and I’m really curious to see how the audience connects with that.”
While she was clearly excited about her role as a super agent in the spy thriller, calling it her “first venture into action” is what caught everyone’s attention and started the online chatter.
The Internet Remembers Jigra
As soon as the video clip of her comment went viral, social media platforms like Reddit were flooded with reactions. Many users immediately pointed out that Alia has already performed action sequences in her recent film Jigra and her Hollywood debut, Heart of Stone.
Some comments were sharp, with one user writing, “Alia has deleted Shaandar, Sadak, Kalank, Jigra and Heart of Stone from her filmography.” Another user joked, “So, Alia Bhatt doesn’t consider Jigra and Heart of Stone as action films.” The general feeling among many was that she was overlooking her previous work.

Fans Defend Alia’s Comment
However, not everyone was critical. A section of fans came to Alia’s defense, arguing that there’s a difference between a film with some action and a full-blown action movie. One supporter wrote, “Jigra was not an action film though. It hardly had one action block. Alpha would probably be the first full action film.”
This led to even more debate, with others arguing that if a couple of action scenes don’t make a movie an “action film,” then many old romantic movies with fight scenes shouldn’t be called action films either. For now, the internet remains divided. Besides Alpha, Alia is also working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic Love & War.
