Atlee’s action drama with Salman Khan was reportedly been put on hold. Fans were eagerly waiting for updates, especially after the director’s blockbuster Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan.
However, new reports suggest that the Rs 500 cr mega-budget project has been shelved indefinitely. Atlee is now rumoured to be focusing on a film with Telugu superstar Allu Arjun. Whether Allu Arjun has replaced Salman Khan in same film or it’s another project is now clear.
Allu Arjun To Kickstart Atlee Film
Two of India’s prominent cinema icons from the Tamil and Telugu film industries are coming together to create a mega-budget, pan-India spectacle. L As per reports in PeepingMoon.com, Allu Arjun will headline Jawan director Atlee Kumar’s next two-hero ambitious period saga.
“Although the paperwork is still pending, the Pushpa 2 star has principally greenlighted the project and will most likely commence working on it as his immediate next. Shooting timelines and other logistical aspects are being worked out, but Atlee is looking to kick off pre-production by April-May,” a source close to the development revealed to PeepingMoon.com.
The film will be made by Sun Pictures, a leading Tamil production house celebrated for bankrolling blockbuster hits such as Enthiran, Sarkar, Beast, Jailer and the upcoming Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj film, Coolie. Although they are still haggling over the production cost, the company is officially on board to finance this highly buzzed collaboration. Sources say this Allu-Atlee film may have a budget of above 600 crores, making it one of the most expensive Indian film productions to date.
This yet-untitled cinematic endeavor is being billed as a grand-scale period saga infused with a reincarnation theme, promising breathtaking visuals and unparalleled entertainment surpassing anything seen in Atlee’s previous works. It’s a two-hero film, with the parallel male lead alongside Allu yet to be finalized. We have also learned that the film will feature three leading heroines, and Janhvi Kapoor is believed to be in consideration for one of the roles.
Salman Khan Replaced Due To His Recent Poor Show At Box Office
Contrary to speculations, this is the same project that Salman Khan was earlier associated with. However, due to Sun Pictures’ hesitancy to invest in a Salman-led venture, the film eventually reverted to Allu — who had been Atlee and the production house’s first choice since its inception. There were also reports that the director was considering Hollywood star Will Smith for the parallel lead, but we understand that negotiations never proceeded after learning of his compensation.
Atlee and Allu’s film has reportedly been fast-tracked due to delays in the actor’s highly-anticipated mythological epic with ‘S/O Satyamurthi’ and ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramaloo’ director Trivikram Srinivas. That project requires more time for script development and extensive pre-production, pushing its production timeline to 2026 and prioritizing Atlee’s film as he intends to finish it by the first quarter of next year.
Earlier, Atlee had spoken about the film, stating that A6 would take a lot of time and effort. He mentioned that the script was almost complete and that the team was in the preparation stage. He also hinted at a big casting surprise and called it a project that would make the country proud. He had assured fans that a major announcement was on the way.
Reports had previously suggested that A6 would feature two legendary actors, with Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth being considered. However, the makers were said to have finalised Thalaivaa. With no official confirmation, fans are still waiting for clarity on whether the project will move forward.
