Telugu Actor Allu Arjun termed the accusations over the Sandhya Theatre stampede during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: the Rule part of a campaign of “character assassination” as Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday said the actor was denied permission for the visit by the police.
The incident on December 4 led to the death of a woman, Revathi, and injuries to her son, Sri Tej.
Allu Arjun in a press conference at his Jubilee Hills residence described the incident as “very unfortunate” and offered his condolences.
Official Statement Of Allu Arjun
“There is a lot of misinformation that I behaved in a particular way. These are wrong allegations. It’s humiliating and a character assassination. There is a lot of misinformation going on, a lot of false allegations, especially character assassination.”
“It is an unfortunate incident and genuinely speaking nobody is at fault… I genuinely think that nobody should be blamed, and I am not here to blame anybody or to blame any department or the government. I am actually thankful to the government because they have been very supporting to the film industry. This is just to state that there is a lot of misinformation and false allegation, and it is just to clear that I’ve not said anything like that. Please don’t judge me… And I just want to say that three years of my life I have put into this film and it means everything to me, and I just went to see it in the theatre and I have been to this theatre 20-30 times, and there has been information that I’ve been very irresponsible while going to the theatre which is not true at all”
“I am getting hourly updates about how the kid is doing. He is progressing. The only good thing is that the boy is getting better. My whole attempt is to produce the audience good entertainment and want people to leave with a smile,”
Allu Arjun was arrested following the incident but secured bail from the Telangana High Court on December 16 after furnishing a bond of Rs 50,000. He expressed his concern for the injured victim, stating that he had been advised not to visit Sri Tej due to “ongoing legal proceedings” but assured support for his medical needs.
