Ambience, Dhurandhar, Welcome To The Jungle: 5 Films That Went Big With Their Trailer Runtime

In an industry trained to sell spectacle in two sharp minutes, some films have treated the trailer itself like an event. These are the rare promos that did not just tease a world, they practically invited viewers to live inside it before the film arrived. From experimental cinema to star-packed Bollywood spectacles, long-form trailers have often worked as mini films, mood pieces, character introductions and marketing flexes rolled into one.

The Long Trailer Club Gets A Bollywood Push

The conversation around unusually long trailers has gained fresh traction because big Hindi films have increasingly embraced extended promotional cuts. Singham Again, Welcome To The Jungle and Dhurandhar all landed in the four-minute zone, a runtime that would once have been considered excessive for a mainstream theatrical trailer.

Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again was one of the clearest examples. Directed by Shetty and backed by Rohit Shetty Picturez, Reliance Entertainment and Jio Studios, the 2024 cop action drama brought Ajay Devgn back as Bajirao Singham alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff and Arjun Kapoor. Its trailer ran 4 minutes and 58 seconds, using the length to establish its Ramayana-inspired conflict, family stakes and multi-star action scale.

Welcome To The Jungle also leaned into size. Directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, the comedy adventure assembled Akshay Kumar with a massive ensemble including Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty. Its 4 minute and 10 second trailer format suited the film’s chaotic pitch, where the joke is not just the situation but the sheer number of recognisable faces packed into the frame.

Ambience Remains The Extreme Benchmark

Even Bollywood’s longest modern trailers look compact next to Ambiancé, often referred to as Ambience. Swedish filmmaker Anders Weberg’s experimental project was associated with a staggering 720-hour concept, and its 2016 “short trailer” ran for 7 hours and 20 minutes. Filmed as a dialogue-free, continuous visual experience on a beach, it remains the kind of cinema experiment that turns the very idea of a trailer upside down.

David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo occupies a different but equally fascinating space. The 2011 Sony Pictures thriller, starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, promoted its icy, violent world through an extended character-profile style promo that ran 8 minutes and 6 seconds. Rather than rushing through plot points, it allowed the film’s texture, menace and psychological chill to build slowly.

Then comes Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and led by Ranveer Singh with Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal in key roles. Its 4 minute and 8 second trailer positioned the film as a dense, high-stakes action drama, giving viewers more than a standard glimpse into its world of power, danger and layered conflict.

Together, these five promos prove that when filmmakers have scale, atmosphere or star power to sell, the trailer can become more than a marketing cut. It can become a statement.
