Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan recently took to social media to show his support for Dhadak 2, the much-discussed upcoming romance-drama starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri. Sharing the film’s trailer on X (formerly Twitter), Bachchan posted, “T 5440 – All good wishes ..” along with a link to the official trailer. His message has added star power to the film’s ongoing buzz, just weeks ahead of its theatrical release.
The trailer for Dhadak 2 was launched a few days ago and has already struck a chord with audiences, thanks to its raw emotion, simmering tension, and the fresh pairing of Siddhant and Triptii. The film is set to hit theatres on 1st August 2025.
Not a continuation, but a bold new remake of a Tamil hit
While Dhadak 2 is a sequel to the 2018 Janhvi Kapoor–Ishaan Khatter starrer, it is not a continuation of story. This film is a standalone story that is being said an official Hindi remake of the acclaimed 2019 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, directed by Mari Selvaraj. The original tackled themes of caste discrimination, systemic injustice, and social resistance, elements that appear to be retained in Dhadak 2 with a new setting and treatment.
Directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Zee Studios, Dharma Productions, and Cloud 9 Pictures, Dhadak 2 aims to be even more grounded and politically aware than its predecessor. The trailer reveals a gritty, emotionally charged narrative that explores love across caste lines, injustice, and personal transformation.
Siddhant and Triptii: New-age leads in challenging roles
Siddhant Chaturvedi, who was last seen in Yudhra, continues his streak of taking on diverse and demanding roles. From his breakout in Gully Boy to films like Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Phone Bhoot, he has consistently chosen scripts that blend mass appeal with strong character arcs. Dhadak 2 pushes him further into emotionally intense territory.
Triptii Dimri, meanwhile, is on a career upswing. After critically acclaimed performances in Bulbbul and Qala, she took the spotlight with Animal. She also starred in Bad Newz and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and is set to appear in Animal Park and Spirit opposite Prabhas. With Dhadak 2, she leads a story that demands both vulnerability and defiance.
Their on-screen chemistry has already garnered positive reactions, and their pairing marks a significant move toward casting grounded, skilled actors in mainstream love stories with weight.
A shift in tone for Dharma Productions
Known for its glossy romantic dramas, Dharma Productions seems to be consciously evolving its slate to include more hard-hitting narratives rooted in social issues. Just like the original Dhadak (a remake of Sairat), this adaptation chooses a story deeply entrenched in caste realities, but with an even more unfiltered, bold presentation.
With industry stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan lending their support, and strong performances expected from its leads, Dhadak 2 could potentially spark the kind of conversation that goes beyond box office numbers.
