Positioned as a production house that aims to balance commercial appeal with high concept storytelling, Birla Studios is already setting the tone for what it wants to back next. Within weeks of the announcement, industry chatter has now turned to the filmmakers the studio may collaborate with first, indicating that the new venture is looking to move from vision to execution quickly.
The primary focus for Birla Studios, as outlined at launch, is to curate projects that travel across languages and audiences while remaining rooted in strong entertainment value. That mandate appears to be guiding early conversations, with names known for mainstream success and content driven cinema both entering the frame.
Birla Studios Eyes Anees Bazmee, Shoojit Sircar And Neeraj Pandey
Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios is currently in talks with Anees Bazmee, Shoojit Sircar and Neeraj Pandey for potential films that could be produced under the banner.
A source said, “Ananya Birla has initiated talks with Anees Bazmee, Shoojit Sircar, Neeraj Pandey etc., among others. Ananya has been an admirer of the films made by these filmmakers and feels that they could be apt to make content for her newly established production company. Anees, Shoojit and Neeraj have also been impressed with her vision, understanding of filmmaking and passion for cinema.”
The source added, “The talks are going on. If all goes well, Anees Bazmee, Shoojit Sircar and Neeraj Pandey will sign on the dotted line soon.”
Ananya Birla’s Vision For A Multi Language Film Slate
Birla Studios has already outlined a broad creative roadmap. As per the official press release, “Birla Studios is shaping a multi-language slate that spans stories in Hindi, Gujarati, Malayalam, amongst other regional languages and international English language cinema, reflecting its ambition to engage audiences across borders and culture”. The same note also signals that the studio will reveal its upcoming projects soon through an official announcement.
