The 2012 romantic comedy Cocktail, starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, was a huge hit among the audiences and critics alike. The film, directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Maddock Films, was praised for its fresh and modern take on love and friendship. Now, after almost 12 years, the makers are reportedly planning to make a sequel to the film, with a new star cast.
According to various sources, the sequel will feature two of the popular young actresses in Bollywood today, Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan. The duo, who are also good friends off-screen, were recently spotted leaving the office of Maddock Films together, sparking speculations that they have been roped in for Cocktail 2. An official announcement from the makers is yet to be made, but the fans are already excited to see the chemistry between Ananya and Sara on the big screen.

Ananya Panday cast opposite Varun Dhawan, Tiger Shroff in Desi Boyzz 2?
Ananya Panday, who made her debut with Student of the Year 2 in 2019, has been steadily rising in the industry with films like Pati Patni Aur Woh, Khaali Peeli and Liger. She is also rumored to be a part of Desi Boyz 2, opposite Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff.
Hindustan Times quoted a source as saying, “Desi Boyzz 2 actors are still getting finalised, they will locked once the scripting is done completely. But yes, it’s true that the OGs John and Akshay won’t be coming again in part two.”
“There are talks about approaching Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff for the lead roles. The story of part two will be completely different and with new actors, just the title remains the same.” the source said. “Ananya Panday might be approached as Varun’s romantic partner, but the second actress’ name is still being contemplated and there are no specific names in mind for that,” the source added. However, an official confirmation from the makers is awaited.
Sara Ali Khan’s work front
Sara Ali Khan, on the other hand, is the daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, and has impressed the audience with her performances in Kedarnath and Simmba. She was last seen in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, with Vicky Kaushal. She has multiple movies lined up:

Metro In Dino: A romantic comedy that pairs Sara Ali Khan with Aditya Roy Kapur for the first time. The film is directed by Anurag Basu and has music by Pritam. The film is produced by T Series and will release in 2024.
Murder Mubarak: A mystery thriller that stars Arjun Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. The film is directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Dinesh Vijan.
