Filmmaker Shankar yesterday announced a Hindi adaptation of his cult blockbuster ‘Anniyan’, with Ranveer Singh. The news garnered a lot of attention on social media. Now the project has come under controversy after Anniyan producer Aascar V Ravichandran has issued a statement lashing out at the filmmaker for remaking the film in Hindi. In the statement, the producer stated that the right of Anniyan is still with him and he hasn’t sold it to Shankar or anyone else.
Ravichandran called the project illegal and asked Shankar to stop his work. He also added that a legal notice will be sent to him.

Shankar’s blockbuster film Anniyan featured Chiyaan Vikram and Sada in lead roles.
Announcing the remake, Shankar wrote, “In this moment, no one will be happier than me, bringing back the larger than life cinematic experience with @RanveerOfficial in the official adaptation of cult blockbuster Anniyan. @jayantilalgada @PenMovies (sic).”
Director Shankar is yet to give any official statement.
