RRR, released on March 24, is an action-drama film starring Ram Charan, N.T. Rama Rao, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris. It’s directed by SS Rajamouli and has been reportedly made with a budget of 550 crores. Its song ‘Naatu Naatu’ and VFX in it got prominence from moviegoers.
British Film Institute’s Sight and Sound magazine, popular for its iconic once-in-a-decade poll of the massive films of all time, has listed RRR among the 50 best films of 2022. It has secured the ninth position in the list, outshining some of the greatest Hollywood ventures like David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future, Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick, Cate Blanchett’s TAR, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.
“Rajamouli’s whip-paced, delirious historical action-adventure fantasia makes fictional bromance from two real-life revolutionaries in a 1920s India under the yoke of colonial British despotism (Sic),” the list stated. Park Chan-wook (Oldboy)’s Decision To Leave, one of the challenges of the Telugu film for the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film 2022, is positioned in third place.
Interestingly, RRR’s music composer MM Keeravani received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association award for the best music score recently. Earlier, the film was also named among the top ten films of the National Board of Review, and SS Rajamouli achieved the Best Director Award from the New York Film Critics Circle.
