‘Pathaan’ starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, has received a huge blockbuster success. The spy action thriller outperformed Hollywood tentpoles at the box office, earning a staggering $102.50 million (850 crores) globally in just 13 days.
In 2023, ‘Pathaan’ is currently the fifth-highest-grossing movie globally, making it one of the few times an Indian film has cracked the top 10. The film outperformed all predictions and ended up becoming the highest-grossing production for the whole main cast, director Siddharth, and production company Yash Raj Films.
Chinese flicks ‘Full River Red’ movie and ‘The Wandering Earth 2’, which also happen to be the only movies so far in 2023 to reach $500 million at the box office, have taken the top two slots among the highest-grossing movies this year.

As of February 6, “Full River Red,” a historical comedy-suspense picture, had amassed approximately $595 million (4.05 billion). It is currently the eighth-highest-grossing Chinese movie of all time and is on track to enter the top five soon. The prequel to the fifth-highest-grossing Chinese film of the same name, “The Wandering Earth 2,” has made $503 million (or $3.42 billion), making it the second-highest-grossing film globally in 2023.
With around $187 million, the animated science fiction comedy “Boonie Bears: Guardian Code” is presently the third-highest grossing movie of the year. The Chinese “Hidden Blade,” an espionage thriller set during World War II, is currently in fourth place with approximately $118 million.
