During the trailer launch on June 4, Anurag Basu went on to say about what inspired Metro… In Dino, when asked to reflect on the contributions of Irrfan Khan and KK to Life in a… Metro:
“The whole film is a tribute to KK and Irrfan. We miss them both. I was talking to Bhushan Kumar, and we agreed — there has been a magical layer to Pritam’s music, because of KK’s voice. He was not just part of Metro… he was also a part of every film I have made. Of course, I miss him.”
Irrfan Khan had one of his most loved performances in the original film, which was released in 2007, and KK’s heart-touching songs (especially O Meri Jaan and Alvida) became the emotional force of the story.
