Anushka Sharma’s Jhulan Goswami is ‘not’ shelved, biopic is expected to go on floors in 2022

Jhulan Nishit Goswami is a former captain of India's national women's cricket team and an all-round cricketer.

Anushka Sharma, one of Bollywood’s most popular actresses, has been absent from the screen for nearly two and a half years. Her last film was Zero (2018), following which she did not appear in another film. Her fans have clearly been longing for her to appear on the big screen.

It was announced in the beginning of 2020 that she would be playing the lead in the biopic of Jhulan Goswami, a prominent Indian cricketer. Anushka donning the Indian cricket team jersey in the presence of Jhulan at Eden Gardens cricket stadium in Kolkata became viral in January. Both were believed to have shot for the biopic’s introduction video, which would be produced by Sony Pictures.

There has been no fresh information on this film in over a year. Many people wondered if the film had been shelved. However, a source told BH, “It is not shelved for sure. The film is under development and in the scripting stage. Once the script is approved, the director would be finalized after which Anushka would start the prep. And only then the film will go on floors.”
