AR Rahman Falls In Trouble As Madras High Court Sends Him Notice For Income Tax Evasion Of A Huge Amount

Ace music composer AR Rahman received a notice from Madras High Court for tax evasion. The notice has been sent after the Income Tax Department filed an appeal in the court.

According to the IT department, Rahman had evaded tax in an individual capacity by allegedly transferring his remuneration of Rs 3.47 crores to his charitable trust. As per the reports, discrepancies were found in Rahman’s tax filing for the year 2011-12.

The department reportedly claims that Rahman was hired to compose ringtones for a UK-based telecom company called Libra mobiles. The amount of which was supposed to get credited to his personal account which is taxable. The composed was in a three-year contract, with the company.

According to the IT department, the sum can be moved to a charitable trust after the deduction of taxes.
