Aditya Dhar Seals Article 370 Triumph, Hints At Dhurandhar Awards Run Next Year

A National Award sweep, a Best Actress win, and a filmmaker already teasing what may come next made September 22 a headline night for Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar. At the 72nd National Film Awards in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, Article 370 emerged as one of the ceremony’s biggest winners, taking home Best Feature Film, while Yami was honoured with Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the political thriller.

The scale of the moment was unmistakable for Yami, who described the honour in deeply personal terms. “It feels great. This is the biggest validation for any artist. It is the highest honour presented to you by your country. I am trying to still soak it in,” she said. For an actor who has steadily built a reputation for choosing intense, author-backed parts, the win marks a defining career milestone.

Yami Gautam On What Article 370 Changed For Her

Yami also spoke about the emotional impact of the film on her craft, saying the experience had brought her back to the hunger of her early years. “Article 370 gave me so much as an artist, as an actor. The energy is of an absolute newcomer for whom everything is new,” she said.

Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, Article 370 was released in 2024 as a Hindi political action thriller. The film stars Yami alongside Priyamani, Skand Thakur, Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Arun Govil and Kiran Karmarkar, and unfolds around a tense mission set against the constitutional changes tied to Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The film’s National Awards haul also included Best Music Direction for Shashwat Sachdev.

Aditya Dhar Keeps Dhurandhar Talk For Another Day

Even on a night shaped by celebration, attention quickly turned to Dhar’s next big directorial. But the filmmaker was in no mood to shift the spotlight away from Article 370. When asked about Dhurandhar, he kept it short and telling: “We are here for Article 370 and discuss about Dhurandhar hopefully next year.”

That one line was enough to spark curiosity around the film’s future awards ambitions, especially coming from Dhar on a night when his banner had just scored one of its biggest triumphs. Instead of leaning into the buzz, he chose to keep the evening anchored in the success of Article 370.

Yami Gautam’s Recent And Upcoming Work

This National Award win arrives at an especially strong phase in Yami’s career. Over the last few years, she has balanced streaming and theatrical projects with ease, featuring in Lost and Netflix’s Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga in 2023, followed by OMG 2 the same year and Article 370 in 2024. The run has strengthened her image as a performer drawn to layered, high-stakes stories rather than formula turns.

That momentum now carries into her next slate. Yami is attached to Nayyi Navelli, which is listed for an October 16, 2026 release. Coming right after her biggest honours moment yet, those titles give her career arc a natural sense of lift, with the National Award adding fresh weight to every move that follows.
