Shah Rukh Khan, who made his comeback to the big screen after four years with Pathaan, and is now basking in the glory of success of Jawan, revealed that his son Aryan Khan was instrumental in helping him overcome his nervousness on his first day on the sets of the action thriller Pathaan. The superstar said that Aryan gave him some valuable advice and motivated him to give his best.
Aryan’s advice to Shah Rukh
On recent Jawan success event, Shah Rukh said that he was feeling anxious and nervous on the first day of shooting for Pathaan, as he had not faced the camera for a long time. He said that he called his son Aryan, who is studying filmmaking in the US, and asked him for some tips. Aryan told him to relax and enjoy himself, and reminded him that he is one of the best actors in the world.
He said, “Main bhi bahut nervous tha ki maine itne saal kaam nahi kiya (I was very nervous because I hadn’t worked for so many years). For me to return to a set after three years itself was very new.”
He further credited Aryan Khan for encouraging him, adding, “It was feeling very, very different. My elder son told me, ‘When we were growing up, we knew what stardom in the air feels like because your films were big hits. The daughter (Suhana) says I know it. But this little one (AbRam) knows you’re a star but has never seen or felt it in the air. So next five films, please work very hard. He’ll feel it in the air. He’ll love and respect you.”
Shah Rukh said that Aryan’s words boosted his confidence and made him feel comfortable. He said that he realized that he should not take himself too seriously and just have fun with his craft. He thanked his son for being his biggest supporter and critic.
Shah Rukh’s comeback with Pathaan
Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, marked Shah Rukh‘s comeback to the silver screen after a gap of four years. His last film was Zero, which released in 2018 and failed to impress the critics and audiences. Shah Rukh said that he took a break from acting to spend more time with his family and to introspect on his career choices.
Pathaan featured Shah Rukh as an exiled RAW agent who teams up with an ISI agent, played by Deepika Padukone, to stop a rogue former RAW agent, played by John Abraham, from unleashing a deadly virus on India. The film also had a cameo appearance by Salman Khan, who reprises his role of Tiger from the Tiger franchise.
The film has received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, who praised its action sequences, music and cast performances. The film has also set several box office records for a Hindi film, including the highest opening day, highest single day, highest opening weekend and highest opening week for a Hindi film in India . It also performed well in overseas markets, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023 .
Pathaan is the fourth installment in the YRF Spy Universe, which also includes Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and War (2019). The film is expected to have a sequel titled Tiger vs Pathaan, which will feature Shah Rukh and Salman in an epic face-off. The script of the film has been locked and the shoot will begin in March 2024.
Jawan breaking box office records
Jawan, directed by Atlee Kumar and produced by Gauri Khan, also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover and Priyamani. The film was released on September 7 and has grossed over ₹ 800 crore worldwide. It has received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike for its action-packed plot and thrilling performances.
Jawan, has become the biggest opener and has minted Rs 129.6 crores on day 1 worldwide and now is set to cross Rs 800 crores.
